[Sorry. I mistakenly posted this in the developer newgroup.]

What does this mean in the dosemu conf file:

        # use "" if you want the printer_command (below) free-form (LPT1
only)

I don't understand the use of "free-form" there.

This means, literally: "upgrade your config file from
the newer dosemu package. Don't use the ancient config
files with the modern dosemus."

After compiling and installing dosemu 1.3.3 to my home directory, I didn't
see a new dosemurc anywhere in the my home tree, so used an old one. Now I
see a new one in /etc/dosemu. Thanks.
