I've opened a case a couple of weeks ago on sourceforge.net about
getting the spam controls cranked up a bit for this mailing list, but
have yet to get any form of response from the person that case has
been assigned to (so much for hearing back within "5 business days"
... maybe they mean 5 congressional business days ;-) ).

Someone tell me again why we need the alsa.jcu.cz gateway? Since most
people email directly to alsa-devel@lists.sourceforge.net, this backdoor
would seem to be nothing but a spam collector.

These are mails from alsa-devel@alsa-project.org, the old ML address,
which just redirects to SF. I don't know why it's still needed, too,
maybe just for convenience...

Many people won't reach to ML :)
I found that the addresses are not updated in linux/MAINTAINERS. Need
to fix it. Sigh.

Looks like it doesn't work anyway -- at least my patches initially posted
to that address, seem to never reach the list...

I would prefer to use the alsa-devel@alsa-project.org rather than SF
address to avoid problems when we move mailing lists to some other
server. The SF address should not be our public address.
What's the problem? If the contents based spam detection is problematic,
nothing help us.

The fact is that most of spams come actually through
alsa-*@alsa-project.org, but not alsa-*@lists.sf.net.
Is it just a conincidence? It's the very question...

The problem is that the spam needs to be detected as close to the source
as possible, which means cutting down the number of legitimate relays
that it has to pass through.
Now, if *everyone* posts via the alsa-project.org address, and that
simply forwards to lists.sourceforge.net for explosion (but that direct
submission is blocked at sourceforge) then we can do the filtering
on alsa-project.org...

For what it's worth, I opened a case of sourceforge over a month ago,
and was told the case would be addressed in 5 business days. I've yet
to hear anything. Sigh.
Since most of the spam is being injected at alsa-project.org, though, it
would make the most sense to install SA + MdF there.
I can do this. Jaroslav: what do you think? Contact me offline.
