I do not know what's wrong! I tried alsaconf unsuccesfully.
I noticed also that I don't have a /etc/asound.state file but a
/var/lib/alsa/asound.state one
I am stuck without sound...
Best regards, Brice

Hi
muting "Line Jack Sense" and "Headphone Jack Sense" resolved the matter!
So nice to hear tux playing sound... -;)
Thanks for that!
ps: what are the function of "Line Jack Sense" and "Headphone Jack Sense"
??

They control the auto-muting via the jack connection state. Some hardwares
(typically laptops) require this to switch the speaker and line-out
outputs depending on the jack. Some hardwares (like yours or ThinkPad)
require them off.
These switches are off per default except for the hardwares known to work,
but some weird mixer apps turn on *automatically*, which leads to such a
problem.
