Subject: udev creates a wrong link for the cdrom device
Date: Wed, 27 Dec 2006 16:30:34 +0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <45929BED.1020008@gmx.de> (raw)
Hey,
I've some problems setting up the udev rules for my cdrom-drive.
Actually the settings should work but the /dev/cdrom device is always
linked to /dev/sda2 though my cdrom is /dev/hdb.
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Dec 27 17:10 /dev/cdrom -> sda2
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 64 Dec 27 17:10 /dev/hdb
my udev-rules look like this:
ACTION="add", SUBSYSTEM="block", ENV(ID_TYPE)="cd", SYMLINK+="cdrom
dvd", GROUP="cdrom"
I've already tried to use ENV(ID_MODEL) and ENV(ID_SERIAL) but it didnt
worked either.
I've noticed that it doesnt take any effect if I comment this rule, so
maybe udev doesnt recognize it. The rule is placed in
/etc/udev/rules.d/82-cdrom.rules, the same place where all the other
rules are.
So maybe Im just too stupid to see the failure or maybe its a but. I
hope someone of you can help me.
Thanks in advance,
Jonathan
