That's also what I do. For me these systems are only a way to get a
development system running so I can recompile and optimise certain
software for a specific ARM processor model. I intend to recompile
Armedslack for armv5te for example for use on my PDA (Xscale PXA26x).

When you have enough software of your own you can rebuild your
image.I have tried to compile an ARM Versatile kernel image before
but it failed a few times and compiling takes a long time in QEMU.

I'll attach my probably non-functional config, which might be too
large for your application.
