I just do:
make HOSTCC=gcc-4.0 ARCH=frv CROSS_COMPILE=frv-linux-gnu- O=... \
defconfig
make HOSTCC=gcc-4.0 ARCH=frv CROSS_COMPILE=frv-linux-gnu- O=...
As I said it is for the automatic compile testing at l4x.org/k/
