Maybe you set the mask too late? try setting it before creating the thread:
sigfillset(&thread_sig_mask);
sigdelset(&thread_sig_mask,SIGILL);
sigdelset(&thread_sig_mask,SIGFPE);
sigdelset(&thread_sig_mask,SIGSEGV);
