Hi Zvika,

If you can use git to clone the repository, that is highly recommended. 
  Note that git can clone over http:// if you have a firewall blocking 
the git:// protocol (http is much less desirable, but should work).

I used wget and it worked for me (at least for starters, I aborted the 
transfer).

$ wget ftp://ftp.denx.de/pub/u-boot/u-boot-1.3.2.tar.bz2
--2008-03-22 17:40:55--  ftp://ftp.denx.de/pub/u-boot/u-boot-1.3.2.tar.bz2
            => `u-boot-1.3.2.tar.bz2'
