Subject: [linux-dvb] driver problem with both TechnoTrend 1500 PCI and Nova S-Plus - none of the cards work
Date: Thu, 22 May 2008 21:43:37 +0200 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <4835CCE9.9060005@web-arts.com> (raw)
Hello,
I have a driver problem with two budget DVB cards - none of them works.
A TechnoTrend 1500, and a Hauppauge Nova S-Plus.
The Hauppauge card only shows up as /dev/video0, and there is no
directory /dev/dvb, though udev is running. The Technotrend card does
not show up as device at all.
I am using kubuntu 7.10 (linuxMCE), but after I found out that nothing
worked, I compiled and installed the latest I4L drivers - no difference.
> dmesg|grep dvb
[ 38.642514] cx88/2: cx2388x dvb driver version 0.0.6 loaded
[ 38.642520] cx88/2: registering cx8802 driver, type: dvb access: shared
[ 38.683307] cx88[0]/2: dvb_register failed (err = -22)
This is what it does in /var/log/messages - there are some errors. I
don´t find anything in the file for the TechnoTrend card.

But it is trying to do something with the TechnoTrend card as well
(dmesg...)
[ 39.013102] saa7146: register extension 'budget_ci dvb'.
The Technotrend card I wanted to set up with "sudo modprobe dvb-ttpci" -
after that dmesg shows:
[ 709.602894] saa7146: register extension 'dvb'.
I even tried "sudo modprobe stv0299" which worked, but gave no
additional result.
Right now "lsmod|grep dvb" looks like this:

I am finally stuck completely and would appreciate any help.
Kind regards
