Thanks for your reply. I've found this patch meanwhile myself
too. I'm currently building a new kernel which contains the patch.

I've seen your comment about in6 and share your opinion. BTW:
motherboard is ASUS P6T WS Professional.

Oh yes, it is still in use. Is the unified driver already part of
kernel 2.6.27.7? If it is, I'll come across is it when I update
the "old" machine to openSUSE 11.1. But this will be quite some
time after the "new" machine is working properly with openSUSE
11.1. So far it took me two weeks to get the harddrive working.
