My problem came from the gentoo-start-scripts of hostapd, which require net.wlan* to be started before starting hostapd. In gentoo's quick-start-guide for hostapd, they ask to configure wlan0 to be in master-mode by setting "iwconfig mode master". I think I should take a deeper look into the hostapd-documentation ;-) Best regards and have a good start into 2009 tonight.
