when using any kernel(2.6.17-present)
I see under dmesg:
[    2.702799] Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.18a.
[    2.711657] ALSA device list:
[    2.720204]   No soundcards found.

how do I change this? i.g.
ALSA device list:
(some card name)

I have a macbook pro ATI chipset.
