Yes, I tried the following Slax module first of all:

with no success.

any other suggestions?

i've enabled iec958 mixer control, but cannot adjst it's volume. the
HDMI device does not have the "pvolume" capability. I don't know if
that's of any significance, but I'm in dark, uncharted territory here.
