Just booted my tree with this line, works just fine:

~/src/qemu-bochs/qemu/x86_64-softmmu/qemu-system-x86_64 -smp 
1,maxcpus=15  -snapshot -L ~/src/qemu-bochs/test/ -serial stdio -cdrom 
~/Desktop/ubuntu-9.04-desktop-amd64.iso -boot d
