Commit 0a579f19ec43a2c1238923014b56d3ae9099cea2 changed the CLD
client<->server network protocol a bit, removing the unused n_msg field.
Standard disclaimer applies: prior to version 1.0, we reserve the right
to change anything: network protocol, API, whatever.
