Suboptimal but might help differentiate between AHCI issues and HW issu= es. This is not especially useful IMHO - but keep it in mind. How does one disable AHCI mode? The choice in the BIOS is between IDE/L= egacy or AHCI. There appears to be no difference when either choice is = made in the BIOS. Is there a kernel boot option I can put in grub? and ata3 is happy now? No, it's not. Anyone else willing to comment on = the console messages below? I don't think it's happy, it keeps on bitching in the logs. This being = a dvd/cd on this controller (ata3) I thought it might help if I can use= the boot option "all_generic_ide" but that doesn't appear to help eith= er. I've seen posts on the web about "all_generic_ide1", etc., do I nee= d to specify "all_generic_ide3" because it's on ata3? I would love to f= ind a listing of all the possible boot arguments you can through at the= kernel in grub, cause they do come in handy and the explanations and p= ossibilities are often hard to find if not impossible.
