Ouch ok, I could have seen this in older messages.
I did not manage booting from serial dataflash for AT91SAM9263 by only
using U-Boot (someone could give another advice if this is not correct).
I used a bootstrap loader called at91bootstrap. Unfortunately there are
only AT91SAM devices supported.
I also did some at91rm9200 bootstrap hacking for xmodem upload years
ago. Will search for this software this evening and contact you off list
since this is not U-boot related.
