Things = like global start, Iridium, etc... Some of these modems offer specific features (special data packet = service), but they usually provide SMS, voicecall and internet (ppp). They usually utilize standard and enhanced Hayes AT commands. For example, Globalstar claims "Crystal clear voice quality: Superior = CDMA digital satellite quality", so it should mean that they are usable = with oFono cdma API. So In short, it seems to me that these modems are very similar to GSM = ones, but yet they have some differences as well (no SIM card, different = radio settings, ...)
