Subject: Re: File Writing gets very slow after adding 1000 or more files in a folder

Hello!

Can you tell me a bit about when it gets slow? IE, is it when there is
a lot of other activity, or just sitting idle? Are things like
directory listings or other metadata operations slow as well? There are
a couple of different potential culprits here. Also, is the same
operation to a directory with fewer files fast?

Thanks,
Mark
