Hello,

Red Hat, SuSE and Ubuntu all have dropped IA-64 support for several years.
Rumors are that Debian will do so once Wheezy is out (e.g.
http://lists.debian.org/debian-ia64/2012/09/msg00005.html).
I thought that Gentoo was still active, but ISOs are several months
old and Gentoo-ia64 list was closed long time ago.

Questions are:
- IA-64 gurus, which Linux distro are you currently using for your
daily kernel development?
- What will be our remaining options if Debian also drops IA-64 support?

Thanks,

     Emeric

The ISOs are months old because they have failed to build. I didn't
noticed the installcds haven't been built for so long...i'll check that
right now.

As for the mailing list, it was closed because there was no traffic. But
we have an IRC channel #gentoo-ia64 on irc.freenode.net where some
helpful people speak from time to time(including me).

Thanks

and the new ISOs are in the mirrors. The isos were built but they
weren't getting copied.

On the other hand, whether there are updated autobuilds or ISOs or
whether they're outdated(because they failed to build), there are new
versions of packages available in both stable and unstable...

Thanks

Hi,

Well, not many answers there...

Anyway, thank you for your feedback.

A minimal Gentoo installation is currently running on my third HDD.
I'm experiencing various issues building a working KDE environment,
but this is beyond the topic of this list, so stopping now. I'll
probably ask for help on #gentoo-ia64 one of these days ;-)

Best regards,

     Emeric
