SCST is alternative SCSI target stack for Linux. SCST allows creation of sophisticated storage devices, which provide advanced functionality, like replication, thin provisioning, deduplication, high availability, automatic backup, etc. Majority of recently developed SAN appliances, especially higher end ones, are SCST based.
