Hi,

That's because 3.10.17 moved to device trees. You need the appropriate 
.dtb binary file for your board (you will find the .dtb files in the 
Yocto "deploy/images/<your-board>/" directory).

You need to load the .dtb (typically at address $fdt_addr) as well as 
the kernel; it would be something like this:

tftpboot $fdt_addr imx6q-whatever-board.dtb; tftpboot $loadaddr uImage

And then boot with:

bootm $loadaddr - $fdt_addr

(note the minus "-" sign).
