The problems started after a regular dist-upgrade on a machine running=20 Ubuntu 14.04 with kernel 3.16.7-031607-generic. As maybe the following issue with Virtualbox (VB) is related, either as=20 cause or result of the underlying problems, I would like to mention,=20 that the issues first appeared when after the reboot (right after the=20 upgrade) I tried to start a VB virtual machine, which led to a complete=20 system freeze (no ssh, no text terminal, only magic sysrequest helped). After rebooting the xml configuration file (and its backup) of the VM=20 that I tried to start before were empty (0 bytes). During further attempts to fix the VB issues (i.e. recompiling its=20 kernel modules=E2=80=A6), the system freeze was reproducible and either l= ed to 0=20 bytes or vanished xml config files of the VMs that were tested. Now the file system is in a rather unstable state, where for at least=20 two subvolumes I am encountering btrfs_unlink_inode and btrfs_rename=20 errors stating "no such entry" when trying to delete some files, causing = the subvolumes to be remounted read-only. I did not yet investigate, if=20 this is only true for a few or for all of the files in these subvols. This situation is of course very undesirable and I hope you could help me= * trying to fix the issues * figuring out what went wrong * and reveal the underlying bugs that I will then file in bugzilla. In order to solve the problem, I ran btrfs scrub twice on the whole=20 btrfs volume, yielding 0 errors each time. The last btrfs balance on the = whole fs was maybe 1 month ago. Currently, as the defect volume is not the root partition, my=20 desperation led me to upgrading to Ubuntu 14.10, hoping that the more=20 recent kernel and btrfs utils may help in any way.
