I use pathced xmms.bmp with multi-threading. Here fragment from my .asoundrc: pcm.swmix { type dmix # any unique number here ipc_key 31334567 slave { pcm "hw:0,0" # these settings may require tweaking for different sound # cards; this is for the Powerbook's built-in snd-powermac # probably not required at all for well-behaved cards... period_time 0 period_size 1024 buffer_size 8192 # mentioning rate fixes wrong speed/pitch in native ALSA stuff rate 44100 } # bindings are cool. This says, that only the first # two channels are to be used by swmix, which is enough for # (most) oss apps and also lets multichannel chios work # much faster: bindings { 0 0 # from 0 => to 0 1 1 # from 1 => to 1 } } ---------------------------------------------------------------------- yure - 02-04-05 15:36 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This problem also become apparented with previous version alsa lib on another system: Card: Intel 82801DB-ICH4 Chip: Realtek ALC650F But with version 1.0.8 I can't reproduce this bug on this system. lspci for this card 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE/PE DRAM Controller/Host-Hub Interface (rev 03) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE/PE Host-to-AGP Bridge (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=1 (rev 02) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=2 (rev 02) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=3 (rev 02) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-M) USB 2.0 EHCI Controller (rev 02) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82801 PCI Bridge (rev 82) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL (ICH4/ICH4-L) LPC Bridge (rev 02) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL (ICH4/ICH4-L) UltraATA-100 IDE Controller (rev 02) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) SMBus Controller (rev 02) 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce2 MX/MX 400] (rev b2) 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
