Some interesting person changed this recently - I have no idea why.
I sent out a patch by Matt Dobson yesterday - hack the const out of misc.c
It shouldn't be there.

PS. Do you really want CONFIG_MULTIQUAD on? Probably not ... 
but maybe you're just testing things.
