In 1.5.0, you will still see git-resolve and git-diff-stages, but they will be removed by 1.5.1. We will keep the following for now, but not encourage use of them to new users. But anything that satisfies the requirements of its small userbase will have happy users without exposing its shortcomings, so I suspect removal from contrib/ by periodic review would never happen in practice. I've already removed contrib/colordiff and git-merge-recur. Among the ones I mentioned in my initial message, the ones that are not mentioned in this message will stay as before.
