Volume of headphones is adjusted by front speakers and when muting front speakers also mutes headphones. (in MS Windows, inserting headphones automatically disables sound from front speakers) ====================================================================== Relationships ID Summary ---------------------------------------------------------------------- has duplicate 0001663 LW20 bugs with headphone input, realtek... ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mjsb - 01-16-06 11:19 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Someone else has reported bug #0001663 which describes the same problem as here (#0001572). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mjsb - 01-21-06 03:24 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I have just recompiled the alsa-kernel driver with ./cofigure --with-debug=full and discovered using 'option model=test' that it is possible to have all four combinations: 1) speakers off and HP off 2) speakers off and HP on 3) speakers on and HP off 4) speakers on and HP on I have tried all models available in the patch_realtek.c but could only have it working with the 'test' model. None of the other models allowed me to have 2) working. The 'In-4 Pin Mode' mutes/unmutes HP, and 'Front Pin Mode' mutes/unmutes internal speakers. Doing a 'cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0' in the combinations above I only get differences in two places. Namely in sections 'Node 0x14' and 'Node 0x1b' for speakers and HP, respectively. Differences are on a line containing: Pin-ctls: 0x00: --> when muted (applies to both sections 0x14 and 1x1b) Pin-ctls: 0xc0: OUT HP --> when unmuted (applies to both sections 0x14 and 1x1b) I'm uploading two files, one generated with sound from speakers and the other with sound from HeadPhones, where you can verify this. If mode information is needed, just ask ;) Issue History Date Modified Username Field Change ====================================================================== 11-17-05 16:31 mjsb New Issue 11-17-05 16:31 mjsb Distribution => Gentoo Linux 11-17-05 16:31 mjsb Kernel Version => 2.1.13-gentoo-r3 11-17-05 16:33 mjsb Issue Monitored: mjsb 12-08-05 21:23 mjsb Note Added: 0006962 01-16-06 11:19 mjsb Note Added: 0007685 01-19-06 18:27 rlrevell Relationship added has duplicate 0001663 01-21-06 03:24 mjsb Note Added: 0007730 ====================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
