Subject: [Qemu-devel] Summary of MTTCG call on 1/2/2016
Date: Mon, 01 Feb 2016 15:05:04 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <87d1sgpj33.fsf@linaro.org> (raw)

Hi,

Here are my notes from today's sync-up call. Please reply with any
corrections ;-)

Status updates:

  - Alvise has release [v7] of the atomics with ARMv8 support
    - now working on the MTTCG variant of the tree
    - suggestion to reach out to another maintainer (MIPS?) to
      convert FE to LL/SC atomics
    - suggested add a new test case to allay Paolo's race fears
  - Fred's posted [v8] of his tree
    - re-base on latest master (was painful)
    - incorporating some of Alvise's suggestions for tlb_flush
  - Alex
    - Did some work on [ThreadSanitizer] to help with testing
    - Looking at crashes where CPU env gets corrupted
    - Getting a testbins project together for upstream
      - suggested we add MTTCG testcases

General discussion:

  - Talked about purpose of the Greensocs logger in Fred's series,
    mentioned virt testchar device
  - Discussed next steps, which architecture should be enabled
    (x86-x86? MIPS?)
  - The need for a prototype of the memory ordering solution is
    now pretty current
    - Alex to look at getting an RFC together for the list
  - Had a brief discussion about keeping regular re-bases and
    quick turnaround on comments
    - The original funding has ended so a lot is best efforts vs
      ${DAYJOB}
    - Alex re-iterated his availability as a warm body and
      Linaro's support
