Subject: [PROBLEM 2.5.52] "bad: scheduling while atomic!" errors during boot of 2.5.52, 2.5.51, 2.5.50
Date: Sun, 22 Dec 2002 15:19:21 -0800 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <87znqxabgm.fsf@joyful.com> (raw)
[1.] One line summary of the problem:
"bad: scheduling while atomic!" errors during boot of 2.5.52, 2.5.51, 2.5.50
[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
When trying to boot 2.5.52, right after "NET4: Unix domain sockets 1.0/SMP
for Linux NET4.0." I see:
bad: scheduling while atomic!
Call Trace: (hex numbers available if needed)

then many more similar errors with various different traces (involving
prepare_namespace, __call_console_drivers, prepare_binprm,
search_binary_handler etc.) culminating in an OOPS like this:
Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 40000be0
printing eip:

I saw similar errors with 2.5.51 & 2.5.50 (but without the trace symbols).
[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):
kernel, boot
[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):
I'm attempting to boot 2.5.52.
[5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information
resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt)
See above

problem (if possible)
