so, i compiled u-boot 1.1.4 (latest version from ftp://ftp.denx.de/pub/u-boot and with the patches available from http://omap.spectrumdigital.com/osk5912/osk5912_faq.html)
and my 2.6.16.18 kernel with ELDK 3.1.1 and i get the following error.

these are the settings i made in the kernel .config:
