There was an article on slashdot a couple of days ago discussing it. Yeah redhat 9 seems to be nearly the same as redhat 8, but I have had trouble with it. Redhat 9 doesn't have you add a regular user after you set the root password during the install. It doesn't test the X configuration, It has newer versions of all the software of course, but if you have used redhat 8 you get the picture. My installation started failing after I tried to set up ALSA. I used the instructions on freshrpms.net, but I think I must have missed something. My system started locking up during the boot when system logging service would start. >From: "Linovitz, Scott" >To: linux-newbie@vger.kernel.org >Subject: Red Hat Version 9 >Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2003 12:20:28 -0700 > >Does anyone have any comments on the new Red Hat version 9?? > >Scott >- >To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-newbie" in >the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org >More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html >Please read the FAQ at http://www.linux-learn.org/faqs _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-newbie" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html Please read the FAQ at http://www.linux-learn.org/faqs
