Over the years I have worked on many different parts of the kernel, including the serial driver, the TTY driver, and the ext2/ext3/ext4 file systems. I organize the Kernel and Maintainers' Summit, and have been very involved in helping with the organization of the Linux Plumbers Conference. One of the reasons why I organized the Kernel Summit, two decades ago, was that it was clear that e-mail and other digital communications were not sufficient to come to consensus; that the human connection of people talking face-to-face and breaking bread together was critically important. The global pandemic has underlined how important this is in bringing us together as a healthy and welcoming community. Maintaining the health of our community and reaching out to form bridges with adjacent communities is one of the important aspects of the TAB, and one which is very important to me. I hope that in 2022, I will be able to continue reaching out to academic communities such as USENIX and FAST so we can learn from each other, bringing new blood and new energies to the Linux community.
