  chapter 3 of bitbake user manual correctly discusses the difference
between "=" and ":=", but says nothing about what happens with all of
the other assignments such as .=, =., +=, =+, _append, _prepend. are
those what i would call immediate evaluation or delayed evaluation? i
think readers might want to know that.
