Subject: [Bug 12579] New: Nouveau is slow when repainting the desktop
Date: Wed, 26 Sep 2007 12:32:46 -0700 (PDT) [thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-12579-8800@http.bugs.freedesktop.org/> (raw)
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12579
Summary: Nouveau is slow when repainting the desktop
Product: Mesa
Version: CVS
Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: trivial
Priority: medium
Component: Drivers/DRI/nouveau
AssignedTo: nouveau-PD4FTy7X32lNgt0PjOBp9y5qC8QIuHrW@public.gmane.org
ReportedBy: adam-my3ETfEBiw+B+jHODAdFcQ@public.gmane.org
I run the GNOME desktop environment, with metacity as a WM. When I switch to a
fullscreen app like evolution, it displays instantly. Going back and forth
between desktops that have epiphany and evolution also is good. But if I
switch to an empty desktop, nouveau takes about one second to repaint the
desktop icons and text (wallpaper appears instantly). Neither the nv nor
nvidia drivers have this issue.
