Summary: Geforce 8400M GS (id 0x427): stick to 800x600
Product: xorg
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Driver/nouveau
AssignedTo: nouveau-PD4FTy7X32lNgt0PjOBp9y5qC8QIuHrW@public.gmane.org
ReportedBy: debian-E6TheL+NHo3k1uMJSBkQmQ@public.gmane.org
QAContact: xorg-team-go0+a7rfsptAfugRpC6u6w@public.gmane.org
I switched from the nvidia-glx-new driver to the Ubuntu 7.10 packages from
"raof". It was git snapshot b36fbf174849b04928efda2909c461b6c1688cdc.
X boots fine and GDM appears, but the screen is set to 800x600, while the
native resolution is 1280x800. The computer is a Dell xPS M1330. The card
vendor is said to be "Dell". I don't know how much Dell is modifying the
design.
What do you need to introspect and maybe fix it? I hoped to find such
instructions on the wiki. I didn't have the time to save the X log. I'll post
it later.
I know git and compiling myself so I can try patches and branches. I already
submitted the renouveau dumps.
I am looking forward to helping support my card model with XRandR 1.2. I
haven't tried glxgears but 3D is not a priority to me.
