I just double checked and confirmed.
Here's a complete list of steps to repro from master (commmit
de77516a2b3f8435df066cfc611b0eacfb61b02e):
git clone https://git.busybox.net/buildroot/
cd buildroot/
make qemu_x86_64_defconfig
make menuconfig
# enable uClibc wchar support
# enable samba4
make
