Subject: [Bug 16191] New: kernel upgrade breaks 3D-graphics (glxgears is black, sometimes flickers)
Date: Sun, 13 Jun 2010 10:27:26 GMT	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-16191-2300@https.bugzilla.kernel.org/> (raw)

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16191

Summary: kernel upgrade breaks 3D-graphics (glxgears is black,
                    sometimes flickers)
           Product: Drivers
           Version: 2.5
    Kernel Version: 2.6.34
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
              Tree: Mainline
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P1
         Component: Video(DRI - non Intel)
        AssignedTo: drivers_video-dri@kernel-bugs.osdl.org
        ReportedBy: florian.a.jung@web.de
        Regression: No

output of lspci

After an upgrade to 2.6.34 (2.6.32 also showed that problem) from 2.6.26, 3D
stopped working.

glxinfo's output hasn't changed, however glxgears displays a black window, and
only sometimes (for example when moving it) i can see flickering gears for a
short time.
also other 3D applications are affected

i've a ati radeon mobility m6 LY and i'm using the open source "radeon" driver
it doesn't matter which AGP mode i use, or if i set it to PCI mode.

expected results: working 3d
actual results: black window, flickering gears

I'm using debian lenny and X.Org X Server 1.4.2

steps to reproduce:
  start glxgears.
  enjoy
