Summary: platform/x86: lenovo-wmi-gamezone: EC fallback to
Quiet (blue LED) desyncs with SMARTFAN_GET (max-power)
on AC unplug on Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8
Product: Drivers
Version: 2.5
Hardware: Intel
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P3

Dmesg delta, DMI status, and decompiled DSDT
Distribution: CachyOS (Arch-based)
Kernel: 7.2.0-1-cachyos
Hardware: Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 (Model 82XV)
BIOS: LZCN44WW (EC: 1.44)
Description:
On Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 running kernel 7.2.0 with lenovo-wmi-gamezone, there is a
state desynchronization between the physical EC thermal mode and the state
reported by sysfs / WMI on AC disconnect.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot system connected to AC power.
2. Ensure platform_profile is set to 'max-power' (Chassis power button LED is
PURPLE / Extreme).
3. Disconnect AC adapter (unplug).
Observed Result:
- Physical power button LED immediately turns BLUE (EC hardware-level fallback
to Quiet/Low-Power mode).
- /sys/firmware/acpi/platform_profile continues to return 'max-power'.
- power-profiles-daemon remains in 'performance'.
- lenovo-wmi-events generates no LWMI_EVENT_THERMAL_MODE notify because WMI
SMARTFAN_GET internally still reports the logical selected mode (Extreme)
rather than the effective EC state (Quiet).
Expected Result:
- When AC is unplugged, platform_profile should reflect the real effective
thermal mode (or fallback to balanced/low-power), or a thermal-mode WMI event
should be raised to notify userspace/PPD of the power limit changes.

decompiled ACPI dsdt.dsl)
