After a trying many kernel versions and distributions to get xen running

linux-2.6.31_pvops-xen-rebase.master.tree-2009-08-31 = 2.6.31-rc6

is the only one that i could get get to the command line prompt, all the others
gave me 
a blank screen before the command line console started.

using nouveau git checkout tree... brings me back to the blank screen problem.
