Subject: [Bug 26964] New: Tearing video playback if XRender enabled
Date: Mon, 8 Mar 2010 12:44:03 -0800 (PST)	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-26964-8800@http.bugs.freedesktop.org/> (raw)

http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26964

Summary: Tearing video playback if XRender enabled
           Product: xorg
           Version: 7.5
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Driver/nouveau
        AssignedTo: nouveau-PD4FTy7X32lNgt0PjOBp9y5qC8QIuHrW@public.gmane.org
        ReportedBy: runetmember-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org
         QAContact: xorg-team-go0+a7rfsptAfugRpC6u6w@public.gmane.org

Enabling XRender composite mode gives tearing video playback problem.
"UnredirectFullscreen=true" in [Compositing] section of
~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc solves problem, but only for fullscreen playback.
Disabling composing completly solves problem, but it not suitable.
In testing I use xv video output, because x11 and gl output methods have bad
performance at all.
Also, why I ask about this problem here:
