Subject: [Bug 30817] New: nouveau makes xorg hard lock at seemingly random times
Date: Tue, 12 Oct 2010 19:06:58 -0700 (PDT)	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-30817-8800@http.bugs.freedesktop.org/> (raw)

Summary: nouveau makes xorg hard lock at seemingly random times
           Product: xorg
           Version: git
          Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
        OS/Version: Linux (All)
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Driver/nouveau
        AssignedTo: nouveau-PD4FTy7X32lNgt0PjOBp9y5qC8QIuHrW@public.gmane.org
        ReportedBy: jordan.w.bradley-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org

I am using an EVGA NVidia GT220 video card on Gentoo Linux. I'm using libdrm,
mesa and nouveau from the git repositories. At seemingly random times my
computer locks up. I can still move the mouse cursor but I can't do anything
with what is on the screen. A kernel panic hadn't occurred because I could
still SSH into the machine. I thought it was the 3D effects of compiz since I
had gallium enabled when I compiled mesa. I switched back to metacity and the
desktop still would lock up. Would nouveau be a cause of this? If so what do
you need to find the problem and how would I get it?

Thanks.
