Subject: [Bug 41019] New: DPMS doesn't work correctly
Date: Mon, 19 Sep 2011 11:55:25 -0700 (PDT)	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-41019-502@http.bugs.freedesktop.org/> (raw)

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41019

           Summary: DPMS doesn't work correctly
           Product: DRI
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
        OS/Version: Linux (All)
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: medium
         Component: General
        AssignedTo: dri-devel@lists.freedesktop.org
        ReportedBy: nissarin@gmail.com

dmesg output

Monitor will keep constantly switching off/on when entering power saving mode:
 - LCD going black
 - OSD message "Entering power saving mode"
 - LCD turns off, then immediately goes back on and the cycle repeats

This bug was previously reported on other list and should be fixed but
unfortunately it's still present on my system.

 - Gentoo/AMD64
 - kernel 3.1.0-rc6-00120 (linus + drm-fixes)
 - xorg 1.11.0/1.10.4
 - Radeon 6850 (+internal card disabled)
 - Dell U2410

I'm not sure if this is relevant but the same effect can be observed on every
power mode, i.e. xset dpms force standby/suspend/off.
