i tested nouveau with :
mandriva 2010.0, 2010.2
mageia 1

always the temperature is  a dangerous one : 80 to 90 °C

with nvidia driver temperature is 64 °C

mother board : asus M2N
graphical card : asus 8600 GT (EN8600GT SILENT)

Mageia supplies xorg 1.10.1 (i don't know what is the nouveau version)
