Subject: [Bug 60614] New: Radeon UVD does not initialise with HD4670 AGP
Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2013 20:48:08 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-60614-2300@https.bugzilla.kernel.org/> (raw)

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60614

            Bug ID: 60614
Summary: Radeon UVD does not initialise with HD4670 AGP
           Product: Drivers
           Version: 2.5
    Kernel Version: 3.10.2
          Hardware: i386
                OS: Linux
              Tree: Mainline
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P1
         Component: Video(DRI - non Intel)
          Assignee: drivers_video-dri@kernel-bugs.osdl.org
          Reporter: rankincj@yahoo.com
        Regression: No

I've just tried booting a vanilla 3.10.2 kernel on my old dual P4 Xeon PC. This
machine has a HD4670 AGP card, which AFAIK uses a RV730 chip. However, the UVD
does not initialise:

[ 13.160710] [drm:r600_uvd_init] *ERROR* UVD not responding, trying to reset
the VCPU!!!
[ 13.187305] [drm:r600_uvd_init] *ERROR* UVD not responding, giving up!!!
[ 13.192756] [drm:rv770_startup] *ERROR* radeon: failed initializing UVD
(-1).

I have installed the new R700_rlc and RV730_uvd firmware into the initramfs,
exactly as I did previously with my HD4650.

The full dmesg log is attached.
