Subject: [dpdk-dev] [Bug 642] bnxt: jumbo packets fail with MBUF_FAST_FREE
Date: Thu, 25 Feb 2021 22:21:59 +0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-642-3@http.bugs.dpdk.org/> (raw)
https://bugs.dpdk.org/show_bug.cgi?id=642
Bug ID: 642
Summary: bnxt: jumbo packets fail with MBUF_FAST_FREE
Product: DPDK
Version: 20.11
Hardware: x86
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: Normal
Component: ethdev
Assignee: dev@dpdk.org
Reporter: brian90013@gmail.com
Target Milestone: ---
Hello,
According to the bnxt tx_offload_capa, it supports
DEV_TX_OFFLOAD_MBUF_FAST_FREE. I enabled the flag along with
DEV_TX_OFFLOAD_MUTLI_SEGS and attempted to send jumbo (9000 byte payloads). I
see ~1000 packets a second being transferred.
When I comment out the MBUF_FAST_FREE (but leave MULTI_SEGS in) I see a more
reasonable 731Kpps / 52Gbps using the same single core.
I now exclude MBUF_FAST_FREE when running with a bnxt, but I would prefer to
discover why this combination doesn't work and fix it. Thank you for your help.
