Summary: Writing MIDI messages to the MIDI output of an
M-Audio Audiophile 2496 causes a hard lockup of the system
Description:
When MIDI messages are sent through the MIDI output port of an M-Audio
Audiophile 2496 for a while the entire system locks up completely. Even
the magic SysRq key won't do anything. I have no way to debug through the
serial port so I don't know if anything is written to the system log - at
least nothing is written so that it would get shown on the screen. This
occurs after playing a MIDI song (for example) for a while - sometimes
after a few seconds, sometimes after a few minutes. Usually it takes 1-2
minutes to reproduce the lockup.
This is a major annoyance since it is not possible to compose anything on
the system due to the lockups.
