The split would remain in the binding but - so what ?

Sub-nodes could be added progressively and once done the DT with the 
sub-nodes can drop the additional firmware-memory.

firmware-memory minItems:1 achieves this - while still letting sub-nodes 
happen.

TBH its up to vidc people to decide this - or get something mergable soon.

I mean I really don't want this but > 6 months plus an "imperfect" but 
functional patch which stops the reset not applied.

A halt needs to be called and a resolution arrived at.
