That's expected, the OE modprobe rule move to udev-extra-rules:

I was thinking of putting it back in, could you try creating a rule with

ACTION=="add", DEVPATH=="/devices/*", ENV{MODALIAS}=="?*",
RUN+="/sbin/modprobe $env{MODALIAS}"

and rebooting?
