They're still useful for > debugging and developpement despite their age Per Daniel's message: The tests with powerpc32 using the OpenBIOS OF implementation seem to still work. I have no 32-bit Apple hardware to test on. But generally, I don't think this is a reasonable requirement. Not only are powerpc macs very old at this point (discontinued 2006 - 15 years ago), but there also aren't really distros that supports them (Debian dropped them in 8, Fedora around 12, Suse in it looks like 7). Sure, Gentoo might work - but these are by no means fast machines. To be constructive: I submit that if users/developers want to test on these machines that they have and use, we should incorporate their feedback where reasonable. But let's not hold back patches over hypothetical concerns for a dead architecture. [1] Be well, --Robbie 1: I love these machines. I grew up with them. But they're solidly retro now. And many of them have design failures that cause them to self-destruct, which makes them particularly difficult retro to manage. --=-=-= Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQJIBAEBCgAyFiEEA5qc6hnelQjDaHWqJTL5F2qVpEIFAmGT3k0UHHJoYXJ3b29k QHJlZGhhdC5jb20ACgkQJTL5F2qVpEJmeA/9FxxYaGsaVxg602RzftNOmpIipDYm pZBw00SED+Vm8fdMfZD8KfyZcfMXRR0SFCRTW1nMF44o4xIPrW4Ga5jxd16ImJPu 8dbQD8UpU7ugcjsm9pBU6EL053qo+e/O4N9bgbvL1bCtStZMA67K2CEjaGA9vAFf hd+OpqNPFGy9lU+JdPL0eeokxDkqBp14Or1fqra+oyMHV0etsDLnzlM+PQXBhUsY FuazfzYDXuYNa9P4PJpwD73FhVejkzHt87PE++HCNfxlCl/M91tqxh59DUKlbUkw GH3BFX9t6b0CPnrV1HG8uTGV7eSY3pzAzOxjR3jpEeIccoEpl8+ioN56YPz2FvtD w504TOS+eP2kD7dNeEpME7TOqremxs7RyVxW+4yB6ecWQFAQUvhvXFs5LlVazcwp m7px8qKs0WetLXEp2ZlG+sBYJEXDGPI7wCP7A4MT5AMUhFCN4vqKxyciGA9iy75y J7G5DWKp7Yx9OI1sV1teykyI4Y++dltkrO9dzRcxNeMxDic71RQa9RevLvT1HUZV WeIZvTef05b9GDU6+boSg/eHWFrr799Y9GpxNeE00wlT8zCk0cfnUEsYLIoM5PS9 icUJSVYZCQyMxmFjMLsiYO6YEKRBA8Ld08HpmGgzTt3QdTL8q1/5RWgBc94HNqnC eSXvITuUow5MHnY= =dwS8 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-=-=--
