I just purchased 5 Toshiba DT01ACA200 2TB drives, and smartctl reports
that they DO support scterc.

Toshiba apparently purchased HGST's 3.5" HDD business from Western
Digital. As a relatively unknown brand, they're probably incented to
maximize the value of their offerings, at least for the time being. (At
$85 for a RAID-friendly 7200RPM 2TB drive, I'd say that they're doing a
fine job!) :-)

HTH

BTW, does anyone know if anyone is maintaining a list/wiki of RAID-
compatible consumer/desktop drives?

Sometimes there's nothing left to do but crash and burn...or die trying.
